Assignment 3

For my third assignment I had to showcase my creative process by turning my work throughout this unit into a short film. It should show my process, research, evaluation etc. I had a short storyboard just to put a few ideas down. Before starting the filming process I did some research on how iPhoto and iMovie work. I did the iMovie at my A-Levels at school so it wasn't that difficult to get into it again. I had a few problems with the time as the film is very time consuming. To overcome this problem my time needed to be managed well. Allowing myself enough time to complete all assignments before the due date. I also realised that I didn't have enough for 30 min. THis meant that I had to make another short film or put more photos up on iPhoto/iMovie. Now my video is complete I think I have enough footage to fill assignment 3.

Sketchbook 3

I wrote a bit more about my ideas for assignment one, two and three. One of the pictures shows some of the materials I used, the paper, pens, glitter, flowers etc. The last 3 photos show me drawing in the sketchbook, putting glitter in it and cutting out.

Sketchbook 2

The next seven pages in my sketchbook shows an explanation of photoshop brushes as we did that in the lesson at that time. I put in the explanation of a blog and the difference between Flickr. and Posterous. As well other ones like Facebook, Twitter, etc...It also shows the tasks we had to do, like "create a brand" and "type basics". I made a little "booklet" thingy which describes me a bit. It mentions my hobbies, favorite music, food i like, what is important to me etc. The last two pages show a brief overview of my ideas.

Sketchbook 1

I had to keep a sketchbook updated. I wrote stuff about me and the unit in it, cut pictures and things like butterflies or flowers out and drew with different colors. On the front page it says "Creative Process". I've cut the letters for it out of the magazine.

The next 11 pages show what is important to me, like love, trainers or humor, and what is not, like katie price for example (pics cut out from magazines like "Now", "Glamour" and "Company"). It shows what I need for making this sketchbook, brainstorming, description of the word "creative", spilled coffee and dripped candle wax and a brief research on photoshop.

Assignment 2/Typography 3

At the beginning I planned to write the alphabet letters on dirty surfaces like dirty cars, windows, street, etc. But then it started snowing and snow reminds me on my home country Austria. I decided to take HP sauce and soya sauce outside and wrote the letters on the snow. It was great fun to be outside in the snow creating letters.

My message for typography 3 is "Chill out".

The photos show the materials I used (Sauces) and me putting them on the windowsill to form the letters. I also took a picture of my sketchbook page where it says about my ideas for typography 3.

Assignment 2/Typography 2

For my second typography I chose to write the alphabet letters on the mirror. I've got a really nice wooden mirror in my room which is really precious to me. I'm quite vain and a mirror shows your reflection which presents yourself. I used a red lipstick, as I like lipsticks and red is my favorite color. I didn't have any problems with this one expect that I had to wipe each letter away with spray and tissue before I wrote the next one :-)

The message I chose for the mirror typography is: "Reflection"

The photos show me writing on the mirror and a page from my sketchbook where I wrote down some ideas.

Assignment 2/Typography 1

For assignment 2 we had to create 3 different typographies. I immediatly knew that my first typography has to be created with vegetables and fruits as I love both. I chose to use my favorite vegetables and fruits to create typography one: carrots, cucumber, cherries, an apple, garlic, peppers, chilli, tomatoes and an orange. I prepared a board and a knife in the kitchen and started cutting the vegetables into slices and sticks. I did the same with the fruits. I formed them to letters and took pictures of them. My message is "You are what you eat".

I chose this type of typography because I think that living healthy is very important. It makes you feel good. Creating the typographies was my favourite part of the assignments.

The pictures show the vegetables and fruits, me chopping them up and how I placed them on the table to form letters. It also shows a page from my sketchbook with ideas for this typography.

I had one little problem with this one, I had to buy all the vegetables and fruits (and the same) as I used when I took the photos, to do my film clip. And at the end of the alphabet (in the film clip) I ran out of food :-)

Assignment 1/Memorybox

For my first assignment I chose to create a shoebox. First I wanted to make something different like a poster. But then I thought about what I like. I like shoes and I like photos and I keep quite a lot of stuff from my past. So I created "Kat's Memorybocks". I cut pictures, words, letters and phots out of magazines, the newspaper and articles. I also printed photos of my family, friends, boyfriend and me. I stuck them all onto the box. One of the problems I had was that I didn't have a lid for my shoebox at the beginning. I must have thrown it away ages ago. Well, I thought about getting a new one, but then I decided to just make on myself. It's not the best lid in the world, but it's ok, it fits :-)
Other than that I didn't really have any problems. I quite liked the idea of creating something which presents me.
